Checks your Spotify catalog against The MLC's database for unclaimed songwriting royalties.
Blackbox Checker takes a Spotify artist, album, or song link and checks each recording against The Mechanical Licensing Collective's database of unmatched and unclaimed mechanical royalties, a pool currently worth $656M. It labels each recording's status — fully claimed, needs matching, missing shares, fully unclaimed, or not in MLC data yet — and estimates the dollar value of your exposure from your Spotify stream count and a mechanical rate it says it measured from actual MLC distributions. It's free with no signup, and frames the payout as time-sensitive: MLC pays out the oldest unmatched months first, and once a month is distributed, that money is gone for good.
