cleanyourtv connects to an Android or Google TV over Wi-Fi via ADB, strips out manufacturer bloatware and sponsored ads on the home screen, and replaces it with a custom launcher styled like Apple TV's. It started as one person's afternoon project debloating their parents' Xiaomi TV — removing 25 preinstalled packages — and within 48 hours of posting had been run on 66 TVs across 25 brands, with contributors adding support for Samsung, LG, Acer and others. It's upfront that it targets the weak chip inside typical smart TVs, so showy visual effects are swapped for simpler Material-style UI the hardware can actually run.
