CodexTheme Tools
Builds a local Codex Desktop theme from a wallpaper — free, runs in the browser
CodexTheme Tools builds a custom Codex Desktop theme from an uploaded wallpaper or preset, tuning contrast, opacity and colors while checking readability live against AA contrast targets across the sidebar, cards, and composer. Your image, text and exports stay in the browser — only the optional "Grok theme proposal" feature sends your typed description to Grok through the tool's own gateway, at 5 credits per proposal. It states plainly that this isn't an official Codex format or any kind of compatibility badge, and walks through install and restore paths before export.

What holds up
- +Runs entirely in the browser — your wallpaper only leaves it if you use the paid Grok proposal
- +Checks contrast against AA targets live, not just a preview screenshot
- +Core builder is free with no account; Grok proposals cost 5 credits each
- +States plainly it's not an official Codex format or verification badge
Mind the limits
- −AI theme proposals cost credits and require sign-in, unlike the rest of the tool
- −Not an official or verified format — compatibility depends on Codex Desktop itself
