Conviction
Transcribes spoken journal entries on your iPhone — audio never leaves it
Conviction is a private, on-device voice journal: you talk, it transcribes to text locally, and audio is never uploaded — no account needed, and it works in airplane mode. It tracks 27 emotions and spots recurring patterns on-device, so a rough week doesn't read like a brand-new crisis a week later. Built by an independent developer, not a clinician, as a bridge between therapy sessions — 'it is not therapy.' Free to start; Pro is a one-time $3.99, not a subscription, and it requires iPhone 15 Pro or later.
What holds up
- +Transcription runs entirely on-device — audio is never uploaded, works even in airplane mode
- +No account or email required — optional Apple Sign-In only if you want encrypted iCloud backup
- +Pro is a one-time $3.99, not a subscription
- +Tracks 27 emotions and resurfaces recurring patterns on-device, so past context isn't lost
Mind the limits
- −Requires iPhone 15 Pro or later — older iPhones can't run it
- −Explicitly not therapy — built by an independent developer, not a clinician
