In the example shown, a reviewer asks for a benchmark before merging a caching optimization, gets concrete before/after numbers (41.2µs down to 3.4µs on a tree of one million items), then asks for the per-node memory cost and gets an exact answer: 16 bytes per internal node, about 5MB per 10 million items.
