EQBase
System-wide Mac equalizer with per-app volume and headphone correction, no driver needed.
EQBase adds a system-wide equalizer to macOS, from 10-band to fully parametric, plus per-app volume, one-click recording of whatever's playing, and a database of 8,600+ measured headphone corrections, all with zero added latency and no driver to install. It also fixes a real macOS gap: on HDMI, optical or many USB outputs, the volume keys go dead because the device reports a fixed level, and EQBase hands control back with an on-screen HUD. The equalizer, headphone correction and volume-key fix are free; room correction (measured via a microphone sweep), per-app tone control and audio visualizers are Pro.

What holds up
- +Zero added latency and bit-perfect when set flat, per the page's own numbers
- +Fixes dead volume keys on HDMI, optical and USB outputs — a real macOS gap, not invented
- +8,600+ measured headphone corrections built in, and the core EQ is free
Mind the limits
- −Room correction, per-app tone and visual meters are Pro-only — the free tier is EQ and recording
- −macOS 14.4+ required — no Windows version, and older Macs are locked out
