fast-jev-compaction
Claude Code plugin that deletes stale tool calls instead of summarizing them into a lossy recap.
fast-jev-compaction replaces Claude Code's built-in compaction summary with a different approach: it sends the whole conversation to an external classifier (Jev), which scores every tool call and result for whether it's still needed, then deletes or truncates the ones marked stale while keeping every retained item — and all user/assistant text — exactly as written. It's also usable standalone as an npm library, and it fits history into a token budget by truncating tool inputs, then abridging texts, then collapsing old messages, in that order, before giving up.

What holds up
- +Keeps everything it decides to retain verbatim — no lossy rewriting of a file path or exact error
- +Falls back through several compaction stages (truncate, abridge, collapse) before giving up
- +Also ships as a plain npm library, not locked to the Claude Code plugin alone
- +Open source on GitHub — you can read exactly what it sends and keeps
Mind the limits
- −Every compaction call depends on Jev, a separate paid API — needs its own API key to run at all
- −Sends your whole conversation history to that third-party classifier on every request
- −Throws instead of degrading gracefully if Jev fails or history won't fit — you handle the fallback
