free-my-tv
Swaps your smart TV's ad-filled home screen for a fast, clean one — one button undoes it.
free-my-tv replaces the ad-filled stock launcher on Google TV, LG webOS and Samsung Tizen sets with one built from your own installed apps, trending picks from TMDB, and weather and crypto prices a remote-press away. On a 98" TCL running Android 14, it measured 96MB of memory against the stock launcher's 242MB, holding a steady 60fps. Installing is no-root, over ADB, with one button to flip back to the factory home screen, screensaver and apps at any time.
What holds up
- +Measured 60% less memory than stock (242MB to 96MB) and holds 60fps on the TV's own GPU
- +One button reverts everything — factory home screen, screensaver and apps — if anything goes wrong
- +No root and nothing uninstalled — it only swaps the launcher, so warranty-breaking changes stay off the table
Mind the limits
- −Needs about ten minutes of ADB setup (developer options, USB debugging), not a one-tap app install
- −On TCL TVs specifically, background running is blocked by default and needs an extra command to allow it
