LumaKeys
Piano app that turns falling notes and your own audio into a practice tool, Mac only
LumaKeys teaches piano through falling notes, transcribing any audio or video file — or your own playing — into MIDI directly on your Mac. You can slow down, loop, isolate a hand, or let a piece wait for you, with no sheet-music reading required. It's pitched as a paid alternative to Synthesia: a one-time $69 (down from $99) covers two Macs, versus an ongoing subscription.
What holds up
- +Runs entirely on your Mac — audio and MIDI transcription never leave the device
- +One-time $69 (down from $99) covers two Macs — no subscription to renew
- +Turns any audio or video file into playable falling notes via on-device transcription
Mind the limits
- −Mac only — Windows users can't run it at all
- −Free tier caps out at 10 pieces, 5 transcriptions, and 1080p export with a watermark
