Generates and burns subtitles in-browser with local Whisper; video never leaves your device.
OpenSubs runs Whisper transcription and subtitle burning entirely in the browser via WebCodecs, so the video file never uploads anywhere — you can check the Network tab yourself to confirm. It translates into 20 languages using Chrome's free built-in translator, or your own Claude, OpenAI or DeepL key for better results on long dialogue. It's free, open source (AGPL-3.0), with no account or watermark, and also ships as a browser extension, desktop app and CLI using the same Rust engine — though the editor can only rewrite what a cue says, not its timing.
