Passports.pics
Crops ID, badge and student photos to the right size and checks the result in your browser
Passports.pics is a browser-based photo cropper for badges, student IDs and membership cards — not passports, which it points to a sister site for. It guides your crop to a preset's exact ratio (square, 35×45mm, etc.), then checks output size, print resolution, head position and background neutrality, without ever uploading your photo: everything runs in your browser and still works offline. It's also upfront that most of these dimensions — unlike the 35×45mm ISO ID-card standard — are conventions that vary by issuer, not real rules.
What holds up
- +No upload step at all — photo is decoded and cropped in your browser, works even offline
- +Flags which size rules are real standards (ISO 35×45mm) versus unofficial conventions
- +Free, with four automated checks: size, print resolution, head position and background
Mind the limits
- −Not for actual passport or visa photos — it points you to a separate sister site for those
- −ID/badge sizes are often employer conventions, not published standards — your issuer's number wins
