Shiyin records and transcribes meetings entirely on-device on a Mac — recording, transcription and speaker identification need no internet connection. Its Chinese model is tuned specifically for Taiwanese Mandarin mixed with English, so terms like 'deploy' or 'Redis' aren't misheard; Japanese meetings fall back to Whisper. Only the transcript text, your notes and the meeting title are sent out, and only when you ask it to write a summary using Claude, ChatGPT, or your own Anthropic/OpenAI API key — or you can skip that and keep just the transcript. It's free and open source (MIT), but needs macOS 26, Apple Silicon and about 1.7GB for the transcription model on first use.
