Texttile, a multiplayer blog engine for people who write together

Multiplayer blog engine where several people write and arrange one entry live

Texttile lets multiple authors edit the same blog entry at once: one person holds the text and types while others watch live and can take over with one click (the app asks first and tells the previous writer), while the photo/video gallery and entry settings stay unlocked for everyone simultaneously. Save Version snapshots the title and text so you can diff word-by-word and revert to an old draft. It's open source in Elixir, built by one person after ten years of co-writing a family travel blog on WordPress, which the author says never supported more than one author per entry, real video, or a usable mobile editor.

What holds up

  • +Real-time co-editing with a hand-off ritual — the app asks first, tells who had it
  • +Gallery and settings stay unlocked for everyone at once — no waiting your turn
  • +Word-by-word version history lets you revert to an earlier draft
  • +Open source in Elixir — self-host, one container, one folder to back up

Mind the limits

  • Videos need your own server to host — no built-in video storage
  • New solo project — its only track record so far is the creator's own travel blog
