Timber reads any article, book, PDF, or pasted text aloud using voices that run fully on-device (Apple, Piper, Kokoro, Supertonic, Pocket, KittenTTS, Moss — 3,801 voices across 71 languages), highlighting each word as it's spoken and working with zero network connection once voices are downloaded. Its companion Mac app, Timber Tabs, gathers your open browser tabs, groups them by site, pre-selects the ones that read like real articles, and sends the list to your phone or saves a portable .timberlist file — it only reads tab titles and URLs, never page content, and never contacts the vendor's servers. Every language gets at least one free male and one free female voice with no account required; a teacher built it after watching a student struggle to read an article aloud.
